PFN Special Elections
We have two unfilled offices on our state Board. We are looking for nominations from our chapters to select new officers to fill these jobs. Click here for the Nomination Form .
This form MUST be completed and e-mailed to PeopleFirstNebraska@outlook.com no later than 5:00 pm on Monday, November 22, 2021. If you don't have a scanner, you can take a picture of the completed form and e-mail that. BE SURE THE PICTURE IS CLEAR AND READABLE.
Our president, Renee Harp, will review all the nominations and make a recommendation to the Board about who she thinks is the best person for these jobs. The People First of Nebraska Board will vote on those recommendations at a Special People First of Nebraska Board Meeting on Zoom on December 1, 2021 at 7:00 pm
The open offices are:
At our annual convention earlier this month, Renee Harp was elected President of People First of Nebraska, so her position as Vice President was left vacant.
This appointment will be for one year until elections are held at our 2022 Annual Convention. The person appointed can then run for re-election if they want.
Please see below for the description of the responsibilities of this office.
No one was nominated for this office before the elections were held at this year’s convention, so it remains vacant.
This appointment will be for three years.
Please see below for description of the responsibilities of this office. The Treasurer works with our bookkeeper and our state coordinator for all of these activities.
The job of Treasurer includes receiving checks in the mail, signing them, and mailing them out in a timely manner. If your chapter nominates someone for the Treasurer’s position, the Chapter Advisor MUST CONTACT our bookkeeper, Julie Stahla, to learn what the expectations are for the local chapter to support this officer. You may contact Julie by text or phone at 308-379-4546 .
Any self-advocate with at least one year’s experience as an active member of People First is eligible to be nominated.
Being an officer for People First of Nebraska is a fun and exciting position. It also has responsibilities:
- Officers sometimes have to be contacted between meetings. The officer MUST give the state coordinator their phone number so they can be called or texted, they can also friend the coordinator on Facebook so they can participate in group chats. Both are preferred. Their e-mail is required to send meeting notices and documents for meetings.
- Board meetings are every three months. Officers are expected to attend ALL Board meetings, either in person or on Zoom. Officers are encouraged to attend in person whenever possible. Chapter Advisors or other support people must commit to supporting the officer with travel or assisting them to get on Zoom if needed. State People First Advisors and Coordinators will assist officers during the meetings. Special meetings are sometimes needed and we will meet on Zoom for those meetings.
Please contact Kellie Ellerbusch at PeopleFirstNebraska@outlook.com or by calling 402-559-4892 if you have any other questions about these offices or the process for selecting these officers.
